Dave Peterson

Dave Peterson joined the Navy in 1988 and served as an Operations Specialist for 24 years. In 2012, He was commissioned as a Navy Chaplain, and served 10 years that included tours with the Navy, the Marine Corps (including a 7-month deployment to Afghanistan) and the Coast Guard. While on active duty he earned a BA in American History from Thomas Edison State College, a BS in Religion from Liberty University, a Master of Divinity in Professional Ministries from Liberty University, and a Master of Arts in Human Services from Regent University. He is the Executive Pastor of Soul Care for Coastal Church in Yorktown, Virginia. He also is on staff with the Biblical Counseling Coalition. During his time as a Chaplain, he saw the importance of a collaborative community for those who are called into a counseling ministry and developed a passion for developing such a community within biblical counseling. Dave is a member of the Association of Biblical Counselors, the International Association of Biblical Counseling, and the Biblical Counseling Association, and is currently pursuing a PhD in Biblical Counseling from Regent University. He has been married to Stephanie for 28 years. They are proud parents of Emily, pursuing her MA of Higher Education at William & Mary, and Stephen, who is currently serving with the Coast Guard.
